A; THE WRITER’S WIKI. This is a slowly growing collection of glossary/wiki entries to help you understand, or learn more, about various terms, names, titles and abbreviations you may come across on this blog. Whenever I find words in the posts that I believe may be new or difficult, I linked them to the wiki post where they are explained. Linked words are always this colour and underscored. Let me know if the word/concept you’re looking for isn’t there and I’ll try to add it as soon as I can.

AU, ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE

Alternative Universe is a term normally relating to fan fiction, where the writer takes another writer’s characters and places them in a different context. It can be a different location, a completely different universe or a different period of time.

Examples of AUs are titles like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (which exists) or 50 Shades of Grey and Lilac set in Elizabethan London (which hopefully doesn’t).
