A chiefly British slang term for fuck. It can be used as a noun “a fuck” (in the sexual sense), or a verb “to fuck” (have sexual intercourse). You can say that you are shagging someone, both in the sense that you’re actually doing it right now, and/or that you’ve got someone in your life that you are shagging. After the fact, you can say that someone shagged you.

Shag cannot be used as a swear word. Shag off, I don’t give a shag, What the shag are you doing etc just sounds stupid. Just don’t go there.

Smut literally means sexual material. It can appear in writing, in pictures, in films etc. and it’s typically of a pornographic and/or obscene nature.

In sex scenes, the focus is often on the feeling and few, if any, details are mentioned or shown. In smut there are no holds barred. You may get intimate descriptions of a character’s genitals or a step-by-step recount of brilliant shag that makes you feel like you were actually there.

Solvogna is the Nylander family’s home, named after the sun chariot that carried Sól across the sky. Solvogna is a stud farm and trotting stable in Indal, Sweden, where the Nylanders breed, train and race coldbloods. Horse and his older brother, Håkan, grew up at Solvogna. Edda lived and worked there too after she was “fostered” by Horse’s parents, Walter and Barbro Nylander.

Sundsvall is a city, and the seat of Sundsvall Municipality, in Västernorrland County in Sweden. It has a port by the Gulf of Bothia, and is located 395 km north of Stockholm. Sundsvall was the cradle of Swedish industrialism, home to its first large strike and the largest fire in Sweden’s history. Indeed, the city has burned down and been rebuilt four times. The last time in stone, giving the city centre the nickname Stenstaden (the stone city). The climate is on the border between subarctic and cold humid continental, or dark and fucking freezing as Edda would say. They get enough snow to cool down the Regional Hospital with it all year round.

THE ULFRHEIM WIKI is a slowly growing collection of glossary/wiki entries to help you sink your canines a little deeper into the Ulfrheim universe.

NB! The wiki may contain spoilers – you have been warned. =)

I try to list all the (potentially) new terms as the stories progress. The wiki section in my Author’s Notes folder is huge, but I won’t post entries in advance as that would give away too much of the plotlines and character arcs.

Words in the text that I believe may be new or difficult are linked to the wiki post where they are explained. Linked words are always this colour and underscored.

Let me know if the word/concept you’re looking for isn’t there and I’ll try to add it as soon as I can.
