Ulfrheim is the name I gave the universe my stories take place in. I purposely chose a name that would sound similar to seven of the níu heimar (nine worlds) that make up the realms of Norse mythology. I think Ulfrheim fits right in with Niflheim, Muspelheim, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Svartalfheim and Helheim. And that was exactly what I wanted.
Wolves are important creatures in the sagas, and I got the name by linking the words for wolf (Old Norse ulfr/úlfr) and home, world, abode (heim/heimr). The literal meaning of Ulfrheim is wolf’s home/world, or home/world of the wolf, which is a fitting name for an independent support group that grows into a powerful nation.
Uppsala, 71 km/44 miles north of Stockholm, is the fourth largest city in Sweden and the seat of Uppsala Municipality and Uppsala County. Once upon a time, Old Uppsala was the main pagan centre of Sweden, and the Temple at Uppsala contained magnificent idols of the Norse gods according to medieval writer Adam of Bremen.
Since 1164, Uppsala has been the ecclesiastical centre of Sweden. Since 1977, it is also the seat of Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet (the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences). The Veterinary Institution that Horse attends after his military service was founded in 1775.
THE ULFRHEIM WIKI is a slowly growing collection of glossary/wiki entries to help you sink your canines a little deeper into the Ulfrheim universe.

I try to list all the (potentially) new terms as the stories progress. The wiki section in my Author’s Notes folder is huge, but I won’t post entries in advance as that would give away too much of the plotlines and character arcs.
Words in the text that I believe may be new or difficult are linked to the wiki post where they are explained. Linked words are always this colour and underscored.
Let me know if the word/concept you’re looking for isn’t there and I’ll try to add it as soon as I can.
