It was on the 257th slide that Gemma realised she had, indeed, expired of boredom. Not for her the embarrassment of waking up with a snort and a dribble of drool anchoring her to the boardroom table. Not this time.
No, the dullness of Eric’s last PowerPoint presentation had finally done it – finished her off for good. So why was he still going?
And that’s when she realised that hell, for her, was to be watching a middle-management presentation for all eternity…
(Note – yes, I might have had to sit through an excruciating power-plod recently. Why do you ask? And perhaps more importantly, to all those involved in such purgatory, why write it all on the slide and then read it to me anyway?)

FearBites: The Twilight of the Exams
Ellis lay, staring at the darkening sky where a full moon laboured up over spindled autumn trees… The others sprawled on coats and car rugs around a makeshift bonfire, its damp, windfall branches spitting and crackling. The leaping flames threw crazed shadows on the abbey’s ruined walls, making them flicker with phantom life.
The abbey’s walls conceal a dark secret, and Ellis is about to wish it had remained hidden.
