NEIGHBORLY GESTURES, SERIES
Neighborly Gestures is a series of five short stories. It begins with helicopter mum, Shannon, who finds herself in a bit of a pickle and begrudgingly turns to Adam, her ex-brother-in-law and wastrel of a neighbor, for help.
Bitter and resentful after his divorce from Shannon’s twin sister, Susan, Adam’s not too keen on helping the infuriating woman, but he sees it as an opportunity to get one over on her. He makes her an offer that would get both of them what they want, but only if she can be a good girl and swallow her pride.

A CUP OF TEA is the second short story in the Neighborly Gestures series where we follow barely civil neighbors Shannon and Adam as they grapple with complex emotions, power dynamics, and personal growth.
Shannon’s journey to sexual awakening and a new way of life unfolds against the backdrop of suburban expectations. Meanwhile, Adam begins to confront his emotional isolation and post-divorce bitterness.
In this installment, we are also introduced to a third neighbor, Harley, who brings a refreshing change to Adam’s life. With her warmth, openness, and exceptional taste in board games, she gives him something to think about. Maybe there’s a new way of life, with different kinds of relationships, in the cards for him too.
A Twist of Fate
A TWIST OF FATE is the third short story in the Neighborly Gestures series, where we continue to explore the evolving relationships between neighbors Adam, Shannon, and Harley.
As Shannon faces a personal health crisis, her desire to live life to the fullest leads her to make a bold request of Adam – one that will test the boundaries of their growing connection. Meanwhile, Adam’s relationship with Harley is deepening, which forces him to balance his feelings for the two, very different women in his life.
With Harley comes light, laughter, and companionship, but with Shannon he gets to explore something different. Something more carnal. In A Twist of Fate, as they untangle the complicated ties that bind them together, all three of them are pushed toward a deeper understanding of themselves and each other.
