SITE, SEA, AND SHORE RULES
Hej Messmate,
Welcome to The Resilience community! Our ship’s code of conduct can be summed up in one simple principle: Don’t Be a Dick! But here are the specific guidelines that keep our creative waters friendly and safe for all crew members.
Rule #1: Don’t Be a Dick!
Treat all crew members and visitors – yourself included! – with respect. We don’t talk down to people or judge others for their life choices and circumstances. Kindness is the currency aboard The Resilience, so tip each other often and generously.
Everyone has off days and sometimes we say things we shouldn’t. It happens. But common courtesy and mutual respect apply in all our community spaces, and as Captain, I do not tolerate dickishness.
Rule #2: Respect People’s Privacy & Identities
We’re all on a first-name basis here, whether that’s a real name, pen name, or online username. As we get to know each other, we inevitably learn personal details, but it’s up to each person to decide how much they want to share.
We protect each other’s identities and don’t spill each other’s beans. If you know someone’s real name, don’t use it here without permission. If you know them by their pen name, don’t share it elsewhere without consent.
Rule #3: Captain’s Authority
Although we work together as a community, sometimes someone needs to steer the ship or make executive decisions. As Captain, I have final say on strategic matters.
For day-to-day operations, Admins and Moderators handle technical and interpersonal issues. If you disagree with their decisions, you can appeal to me directly. All final decisions rest with ship leadership.
Rule #4: Be Supportive
We’re an open-minded crew with creators working across many genres. Some may write content you’re not comfortable reading – that’s fine. No one expects you to read or promote everything.
We do expect you to be supportive of fellow crew members, even when their creative work isn’t your personal taste. Respect the craft, even if the content isn’t for you.
Rule #5: Stay Engaged
We understand life happens and sometimes you need breaks, but prolonged absence may affect your access to community resources and spaces.
Website/Newsletter: Extended inactivity may result in removal from community updates
Discord: Access restricted after 4 weeks absence without communication
Complete Absence: More than a month without any contact results in removal from private spaces
This isn’t punishment – it’s protecting the privacy of active community members. You can always rejoin when you’re ready to participate again.
Rule #6: Content Guidelines
Community Spaces: Keep general areas reasonably free from politics, highly triggering content, and explicit material. We don’t ban swearing or require content warnings, but if you’re posting something potentially problematic, a simple CW/TW tag is appreciated.
Genre-Specific Spaces: Adult content, political discussion, and sensitive topics have designated areas. Check channel/space guidelines for specific rules.
Personal Responsibility: Consider your audience and choose appropriate spaces for different types of content.
Rule #7: Stay On Topic
Off-topic conversations aren’t banned, but they might get moved to more appropriate spaces. Try to match your content to the purpose of each community area.
Some spaces are for reading or downloads only. If you have questions about content, ask in general discussion areas or contact moderators directly.
Rule #8: No Spamming
Don’t post content where it doesn’t belong just to get attention or cause disruption.
Harmful Content: Sharing viruses, IP grabbers, malware, or other harmful material results in immediate permanent bans unless you can prove it was an honest mistake.
Self-Promotion: Share your work appropriately – we celebrate crew achievements, but constant promotional spam isn’t welcome.
Rule #9: Absolute Dealbreakers
These violations result in immediate action:
- No hate speech, bigotry, bullying, or discrimination (including gender-bashing)
- No shaming people for their creative choices, kinks, or personal preferences
- No general harassment or threatening behaviour
- Don’t block moderators or ship leadership (makes it impossible to communicate with you)
- Follow platform rules (Discord TOS, website terms, social media guidelines)
- No content supporting illegal activities
Rule #10: Enforcement
Breaking these guidelines may result in:
- Warnings and guidance
- Temporary restrictions or time-outs
- Permanent removal from community spaces
Our goal is building a safe, friendly community where all crew members can thrive. We’d rather resolve issues through communication than punishment, but we will protect our community when necessary.
Appeals Process
Think a moderation decision was unfair? Contact me directly at linnea@aswewrite.com. I’ll review all appeals personally and make final decisions.
Questions About the Rules?
Need clarification about community guidelines? Unsure if something is appropriate? Just ask! We’d rather answer questions than deal with misunderstandings.
Here’s to respectful seas and creative winds,
