COMMUNITY MODERATION

Hej Messmate,

The Resilience is a creative community where writers, readers, and storytellers gather to share their passion for great stories. Like any good ship, we need some basic rules to keep everyone safe and ensure our adventures remain enjoyable for all aboard.

Where This Applies

This policy covers all Resilience community spaces:

  • Our Discord servers
  • Website comments and contact forms
  • Social media interactions (Substack, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Email communications
  • Any future community platforms we may launch

Our Community Values

We sail under the flag of creativity, respect, and mutual support. We welcome diverse voices, genres, and perspectives. We celebrate success, support each other through challenges, and maintain a space where everyone feels safe to share their creative work.

What We Encourage

  • Constructive feedback and thoughtful critique
  • Celebrating each other’s victories and milestones
  • Sharing resources, tips, and creative inspiration
  • Respectful discussions about craft, storytelling, and creative business
  • Supporting fellow crew members’ projects and launches
  • Having fun with our pirate core theme and ship culture

What We Don’t Tolerate

  • Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks
  • Discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Spam, excessive self-promotion, or off-topic content
  • Sharing others’ unpublished work without permission
  • Trolling, deliberately inflammatory comments, or bad-faith arguments
  • Inappropriate sexual content in general community spaces (we have genre-specific channels for adult content discussions)

Our Approach to Moderation

First Response: Most issues are handled with a gentle course correction – a friendly reminder about community guidelines or a suggestion to move discussions to appropriate channels.

Escalation: Repeated violations or serious misconduct may result in:

  • Temporary restrictions (muting, time-outs)
  • Removal from specific community spaces
  • Complete removal from all Resilience communities

Appeal Process: If you believe moderation action was taken in error, contact Captain Linn directly. We’re reasonable pirates who believe in second chances.

Content Guidelines

Writing Samples & Critiques: Share excerpts freely, but respect others’ intellectual property. Constructive feedback is welcome; harsh criticism should be delivered privately or in designated critique channels.

Adult Content: We write across all genres, including spicy romance and erotica. Adult content discussions are welcome in appropriate channels but should be clearly marked and kept out of general spaces.

Self-Promotion: Share your victories! But balance promotion with community participation. Pure spam will be removed faster than you can say “walk the plank.”

Special Considerations

Mental Health: We understand that creative life can be challenging. We’ll provide support where we can, but we’re not mental health professionals. We may direct crew members to appropriate resources when needed.

Creative Differences: Disagreements about craft, style, or story choices are normal and healthy. Keep discussions respectful and remember that there’s no single “right” way to tell a story.

Technical Issues: If someone’s having trouble with Discord, our website, or other technical aspects, we’ll help problem-solve rather than assuming bad intent.

Who Moderates

  • Captain Linn: Final authority on all community decisions
  • Quartermaster Leto/Sir Bear
  • Trusted Crew Members: Long-term community members may help with day-to-day moderation
  • Platform Tools: We use automated tools where appropriate (spam filters, etc.)

Questions or Concerns?

If you see behaviour that concerns you, have questions about these guidelines, or want to discuss a moderation decision, please reach out:

  • Contact Captain Linn directly via Discord DM or email
  • Email us through our contact page
  • Use the appropriate reporting tools on each platform

A Living Document

These guidelines will evolve as our community grows and changes. We’re committed to maintaining a creative, supportive environment where all crew members can thrive.

Remember, we’re all here because we love storytelling. Let’s keep that joy and passion at the center of everything we do aboard The Resilience.

Fair winds and respectful discourse,

//Linnea Lucifer 🏴‍☠️
Captain of the Resilience
