Shannon Middleton is one of the main characters in the Neighborly Gestures series. She is Adam‘s next-door neighbor and ex-sister-in-law who never thought he was the right man for her sister, Susan.

Background
When Shannon’s sister, Susan, married Adam, Shannon bought the house next door. Now her sister has moved on, but Shannon is still there, and literally everything about Adam irks her.
Character Arc
Want → goal → belief → lesson: Shannon’s want as the story begins is to raise enough money for her daughter, Janice, to go to the Badger Scout’s leadership summit over the summer. This is so important to her that she’s willing to “lower herself” enough to ask Adam for help. Her main goal is to be a good wife and mother, and to keep her family together.
